Pushing CVG Designs Further With Shorts
As you already know, CVG is all about stand out apparel. Badass leggings and sassy tanks that result in a minimum of 3 people stopping you to ask where you got your gear, every time!
Going back 4-5 years ago when we first started creating our leggings, with bold colors and aggressive patterns, there weren’t many brands (if any) doing what we were doing. It seems other companies have caught on to our style and make attempts at ripping us off, but let’s be serious, their stuff is junk and we all know it. Just about every week we see a different shady company copying our exact designs, but we brush it off because we know they lack in so many other areas. But I digress…
We’ve always danced the line of stand out apparel without going into straight crazy-town. Some may say (I don’t know if anyone actually says this 😄) that we have mastered head turning leggings. Mastering such a thing is not an easy thing to do…
Specifically the issue with leggings is that they cover just about 50% of your body. So if a pattern crosses the line of being too crazy, it can become a bit overwhelming considering they visually take up 50% of your body.
So, what do we do?…PIVOT! That’s where shorts come into play. The beautiful thing about shorts is that they don’t take up 50% of your body. With much less fabric being worn, we’re able to push our designs even further. Allowing us to do things that we’ve wanted to do for a while but just couldn’t with leggings.
And just like that the Sun’s Out Fun’s Out Collection is born. We’ve been waiting a long time to take a step forward with more crazy fun patterns, and shorts have allowed us to do that.
The early feedback has been amazing! So we’re prepared to keep our shorts collection growing and improving over time, with both crazy designs and of course more staple designs like solid colors and calm patterns.

Why The Sun’s Out Fun’s Out Collection?
If you’re a member of our community (Fitness Programming By CVG) you know what we’re about. We preach for setting goals, working hard and supporting those around us. However, there’s another underlying rule that our team lives by…
That rule is to always lead by having fun and enjoying what we do. We understand that if we can’t have fun and bring joy to others then what’s the point? We’re in this for the long term and there’s only one way to go the distance with anything – and that’s to enjoy the process. You probably often hear the CVG coaches mentioning how it’s truly about the journey. When all is said and done, you will look back and remember the process and will think fondly about it. That’s what it’s all about.
Constantly Varied Gear’s Sun’s Out Fun’s Out Collection is a representation of that. When deciding on exactly what these fun patterns should be, we decided we were going all in! Three new patterns at once (a rarity for us and a big undertaking). I’ll share the thought process behind each of the patterns…
The Unicorn Shorts – The CVG community has been demanding unicorns. We hear you! Truthfully, unicorn leggings can be challenging. Like mentioned above, covering your leggings with unicorns can dance the line of going too far. Butttt…unicorn shorts, on the other hand…AMAZING! This was an easy decision and we’re so happy to see the overwhelming response from our community for them.
The Shark Shorts – This design was inspired by our community leader, Kelsea Hellyar (Kelsea’s Instagram). If you follow Kelsea you probably know about her over-the-top fear of sharks. We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to offer something like this in honor of her. We also timed it perfectly to go live during Discovery Channel’s Shark Week. Damn, we’re good!
The Thunderstruck Shorts – Chosen by TTSL Lead Programmer, Rachael Arruda. Rachael danced the line between fun and badass with these shorts and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We also loved the opportunity to draw attention to the “fun” warm-up that involves doing burpees to the song Thunderstruck by ACDC! We expect to see a lot of people doing this warm-up with these shorts on. 😆
CVG’s Best Kept Secret
But wait! There’s more…
Quite possibly the best kept secret in the CVG world are the new style headbands. What makes them so great? Just straight up quality! We started from scratch with this style and we put focus on a few select areas…
1. Thickness. Our old style headbands were great for keeping hair out of your face, but they lacked in keeping sweat in place. Our new style headbands are double layered to absorb sweat.
2. Pattern. We’ve heard the demands for more matchy matchy. We now have the ability to perfectly match our legging patterns with our headbands. 🙌
3. Fit/Material. Possibly the most important thing about a headband is that they stay in place. These headbands are designed to be tight and not stretch out. They’re made from the exact same material of our leggings so they have maximum stretch and are beyond soft!
Over the last few months we’ve rolled out several new headbands in our new style and the feedback has been amazing.
And To Round It All Off…
We couldn’t release unicorn shorts and shark shorts without jumping on some new shirt designs as well as bumping some older shirt designs that you may have never seen. Including in the Sun’s Out Fun’s Out Collection are some perfectly themed unicorn shirts and shark shirts. I’ll list a few below, you can check out the rest here.
It’s Not All Sunshine & Rainbows
At the time of writing this article (Wednesday afternoon) we’re battling an issue with the Shark Shorts. Somehow DHL has managed to lose a few boxes from our shorts shipment. Specifically x-small and XXL. Josh (our warehouse manager) has been been putting in work on twisting DHL’s arm, but when something is lost there’s not much for us to do from our end. We’re crossing our fingers 🤞🤞🤞 on this one in hopes that some good luck comes our way in the next 24 hours.
If this issue isn’t resolved in time we’ll have some interesting decisions to make. Ultimately we will receive them at some point, even if that means a new shipment. But that will obviously result in delay, which would be messy for customers that purchase Skip The Line. We’re hoping for the best but if you’re planning on getting the Shark Shorts in x-small or XXL you may want to reconsider skip the line due to potential delay.
